چکیده
Abstract Potato is the second most important food crop after maize in Kenya. However, farmers produce potatoes under sub-optimal management, resulting low yields, despite introduction of improved varieties. production practices were documented and compared to contribute towards potato management productivity The study was guided by hypothesis that farming influence performance can depend on environment. Focus group discussions household surveys conducted three major growing areas Kaptama, Saboti Lelan Bungoma, Trans Nzoia Elgeyo Marakwet counties Farming main occupation 58.2% respondents. Provision seeds training support demonstrations fertilizer pesticide appropriate rotation are recommended for yields. Use irrigation where possible should be enhanced through government development partners’ ensure sustainable supply. Also, viable channel(s) could enhance security, livelihoods national goals.

Scaling production and improving efficiency in DEA: an interactive approach
DEA models help a DMU to detect its (in-)efficiency and to improve activities, if necessary. Efficiency is only one economic aim for a decision-maker; however, up- or downsizing might be a second one. Improving efficiency is the main topic in DEA; the long-term strategy towards the right production size should attract our attention as well. Not always the management of a DMU primarily focuses o...

متن کاملWeed Dynamics during Transition to Conservation Agriculture in Western Kenya Maize Production
Weed competition is a significant problem in maize (Zea mays, L.) production in Sub-Saharan Africa. Better understanding of weed management and costs in maize intercropped with beans (Phaseolus vulgaris, L.) during transition to conservation agricultural systems is needed. Changes in weed population and maize growth were assessed for a period of three years at Bungoma where crops are grown twic...
